My name is Lisa Burke, and I am very excited to be your math teacher this year!
I've been a certified teacher for more than twenty-five years, and in that time, I've been a classroom teacher, a reading resource teacher, an instructional resource teacher, and even a media specialist! I also ran my own publishing company, where I wrote and published professional resources for teachers. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an electrical engineer in the computer industry, and I taught electronics at my local community college. I've done many different things in my professional life, but helping kids learn math is one of the best!
I'm originally from the NY metro area, but have lived in the Triangle for the better part of the last twenty-seven years. I now live in Cary with my husband and two wonderful teenage boys who keep me very busy with their extracurricular activities. I'm an NC State mom -- Go Pack! I love learning new things and enjoy reading, gardening, and baking.
I can't wait to meet all of my new students, and I look forward to a great year!
